SUMMARY:
We are passionate about developing high-quality, innovative animal health products. We seek your expertise in virology, including molecular virology, immunology, and infectious disease, to help us research and develop cutting-edge, proprietary biologicals for the livestock industry. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as a bench-level scientist, preferably in vaccine development and conducting host animal studies. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record in collaborative team environments and experience in the development of biologicals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrable experience with molecular and immuno-biology techniques, including ELISA, PCR, western blot, recombinant DNA technologies, and cell culture
Experience in assay development and strong problem-solving skills
Knowledge of immunological responses and mechanisms related to viral/bacterial infection protection
Familiarity with animal model development for assessing vaccine safety and efficacy
Ability to prioritize, develop, and implement research plans aligned with corporate priorities; proven ability to manage multiple, often competing, priorities and timelines
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of experience with microbiology, traditional vaccines, or mRNA vaccine work
2-3 years of experience in an industrial R&D research laboratory
Working knowledge of USDA regulations
Experience in designing and executing experiments to assess the safety and efficacy of novel vaccines
Experience with agricultural animal infectious disease vaccines
Experience evaluating vaccine adjuvants and novel delivery systems
Experience with mRNA work (transcription, transfection, etc.)
Experience with intracellular bacteria culture
Experience with laboratory animal work
Experience with mid- to large-scale mammalian cell culture (suspension)
Experience with mid- to large-scale bacteria culture
Experience with microaerophile and/or anaerobic culture
EDUCATION:
Ph.D. or DVM degree in Virology, Microbiology, or a related discipline (Biochemistry, lipid nanoparticle delivery) OR a Master’s degree with significant experience (5-7 years)
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
Experience:
Microbiology/vaccine: 3 years (Preferred)
Industrial/private research: 1 year (Preferred)
mRNA work: 1 year (Preferred)
