Summary of Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to provide analytical leadership and support to our Research & Development, Quality Control, and Operations teams. This role will be instrumental in driving product innovation and ensuring product quality through the development and implementation of advanced analytical methods.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop and validate robust analytical methods for raw materials, flavors, and finished products utilizing chromatographic techniques (GC/MS, UHPLC), solvent extraction, headspace extraction, and SPME.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of volatile and non-volatile components in food, beverage, and flavor matrices to support product development and quality assurance.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive internal library of flavor compounds for reference and comparison.
- Implement and optimize chromatographic methods for the identification and quantification of key flavor components.
- Generate precise and accurate analytical data, preparing detailed reports using Agilent Chemstation and Excel.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for analytical methods and provide training to internal teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify analytical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and laboratory efficiency.
- Stay abreast of emerging analytical technologies and industry best practices.
- Manage laboratory operations, including resource allocation, inventory control, and safety compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry.
- Proven expertise in chromatographic techniques (GC/MS, UHPLC) and data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Chemistry or related field.
- Experience in the food, beverage, or flavor industry.
- Proficiency with Agilent Chemstation, GC/MS, and UHPLC instrumentation.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
