Fermentation Engineer
We are seeking a Fermentation Engineer to provide technical leadership in the areas of microbiology, fermentation kinetics, enzyme kinetics, yeast physiology, and experimental management for our ethanol production facility. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing fermentation processes to improve efficiency, quality, and yield of ethanol production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, fermentation, and experimental design.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in the areas of microbiology, fermentation kinetics, enzyme kinetics, yeast physiology, and experimental management for our ethanol production facility
- Develop and optimize fermentation processes to improve efficiency, quality, and yield of ethanol production
- Identify and troubleshoot fermentation process issues, implement corrective actions and ensure process stability
- Develop and execute experimental plans, analyze data and report results to drive process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process optimization aligns with production goals and quality standards
- Stay current with the latest fermentation research, technologies, and industry trends
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Write technical reports, operating procedures and documentation, and present technical information to internal and external teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field
- 3+ years of experience in fermentation process development and optimization, preferably in ethanol production
- Strong knowledge of microbiology, fermentation kinetics, enzyme kinetics, and yeast physiology
- Experience with experimental design, statistical analysis and data interpretation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with process control and automation systems is a plus
