Protein Engineering Scientist – Drug Discovery
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Protein Engineering Scientist to join our dynamic research team focused on drug discovery. As a Protein Engineering Scientist, you will play a crucial role in designing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting experiments related to synthetic library design and high-throughput screening for novel drug candidates. Protein Engineering and Design: Utilize your expertise in protein engineering to design novel variants with enhanced properties for drug discovery projects.
Synthetic Library Design: Develop diverse and high-quality synthetic libraries tailored to specific drug targets, enabling efficient screening of potential therapeutic candidates.
High-Throughput Screening: Plan and execute high-throughput screening assays to identify and evaluate promising candidates from the synthetic libraries.
Experiment Execution: Independently perform experiments, including protein expression, purification, and characterization, as well as enzymatic assays and binding studies.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze experimental data using various statistical and bioinformatics tools. Interpret results and draw meaningful conclusions to guide project direction.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemists, bioinformaticians, and computational scientists, to drive collaborative drug discovery efforts.
Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in protein engineering and high-throughput screening technologies to propose and implement innovative approaches.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, generate technical reports, and present findings to the research team and management.
Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy, reproducibility, and reliability of experimental procedures through rigorous quality control measures.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, or a related field with a focus on drug discovery.
- Proven experience in executing high-throughput screens and/or protein/enzyme engineering work in an industry or academic setting.
- Strong expertise in protein engineering techniques, including rational design, directed evolution, and library generation.
- Demonstrated experience in synthetic library design for protein engineering or drug discovery applications.
- Proficiency in protein expression and purification techniques, as well as enzymatic assays and binding studies.
- Hands-on experience with high-throughput screening platforms and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with computational tools and bioinformatics analysis related to protein engineering is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols.
- Effective communication skills to present complex scientific concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
