Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Fermentation Scientist to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Fermentation Scientist, you will play a critical role in leading and managing fermentation projects, optimizing processes, and driving innovation in our biotechnology operations.
Senior Fermentation Scientist Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage fermentation projects from concept to commercialization.
- Design, develop, and optimize fermentation processes, including strain selection, media formulation, and process parameters.
- Conduct experiments, monitor and control fermentation processes, and analyze data to ensure product quality and yield.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale-up and transfer fermentation processes from lab-scale to pilot-scale and production-scale.
- Troubleshoot fermentation issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in fermentation technologies and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Drive innovation in fermentation techniques, including the implementation of new equipment, automation, and bioreactor systems.
- Manage and mentor junior scientists and technicians involved in fermentation projects.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines in fermentation operations.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to source fermentation-related equipment and materials.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or a related field. (Master’s degree with extensive industry experience will also be considered)
- Proven experience in fermentation process development and optimization in an industrial or academic setting.
- Strong knowledge of fermentation principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Experience in strain selection, media formulation, and process scale-up.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and software relevant to fermentation processes.
- Familiarity with process control systems and automation in fermentation.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the biopharmaceutical, biofuel, or food and beverage industry.
- Knowledge of downstream processing techniques and purification methods.
- Experience with microbial or yeast fermentation.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and quality systems in fermentation operations.
