Our Chicago Loop office seeks a top performing lead generating Business Development Manager for our growing engineering consulting firm. We provide services to privately-held and family owned companies in industries such as construction, healthcare, wholesale distribution, and professional services, among others. Candidate will also provide sales support to partners and mangers on new client solicitations.
Position Summary:
The primary focus for this position is to grow revenue through the development of long-term client relationships, enhance profitability and develop local market awareness of our services. The BDM role is fast paced and performed in a change-oriented, fast growth environment.
The successful candidate will be comfortable collaboratively selling as part of a team to assess and resolve client needs. Sales teams include technical experts who also support delivery of our solutions/services.
The role of the BDM is entrepreneurial in nature, requiring creativity as well as solid leadership and, strong business and analytical skills. The individual must be professional and ethical in the way s/he interacts with clients, consultant community and staff.
Position Responsibilities:
· Build relationships with key executives to generate and develop ideas, pursue opportunities and close engagements.
· Research – Identify and target prospects using specific qualifying criteria (the firm’s ideal prospect profile) established by the firm’s management.
· Lead generation – Generate qualified leads through direct mail, community involvement, telephone work, referral source development and other networking, and marketing tactics.
· Pre-screening – Qualify prospective clients prior to getting partners involved in the selling process in order to maximize the partner’s personal time spent in selling. Keen business sense and research abilities are needed for this function.
· Measure results. Produce periodic management reports that detail efforts as well as wins and losses.
· Follow-up – Maintain regular contact with prospects, in the form of letters, articles of interest, telephone conversations, invitations to firm, sporting, chamber of commerce, social and/or cultural events, lunches, and so on. This role can be of great value and is a clear way the sales professional can demonstrate ROI.
· Support office’s market awareness, networking activities.
· Proposal writing – Compose persuasive documents with significant eye appeal that differentiate the firm, show the depth of the firm’s resolve to solve problems and are customized to offer specific solutions to the specific needs and challenges of each prospect.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years success as a relationship and/or business development manager selling professional services into complex clients.
Demonstrate superior knowledge and execution of the sales process and consistently apply the sales process in pursuits.
Significant level of relationship and business development experience and proven track record in selling Tax, A&A, Business Valuation, Litigation Support and other consulting services.
Candidate from previous public accounting or finance environment is preferred.
Bachelors Degree in Business.
A plus if experience delivering Accounting and Finance related services and/or carries an industry related certification: CPA, CFA, CVA, etc…
Salary
Compensation will be a minimum base salary (plus expenses) complimented by a generous commission for new sales. Total all in comp into $200’s for a strong performer.
