Techs work on a range of complex material processing techniques including epoxy bonding of delicate MEMS components, inspecting and aligning components, assembling thrusters to propellant supply tanks, assisting with integration of test setups, and performing chemical processes to fabricate carbon xerogels.  Working with standard operating procedures and protocols, applicants can expect to produce hardware, flag problems in the production line, and run experimental procedures to improve yields and performance.  A comprehensive training program will give new assembly technicians all the confidence required to achieve goals and learn more about a new generation of ion thrusters.

Emphasis within the manufacturing group is placed on teamwork and communication to achieve the goals set down by program deadlines and specifications. As a member of the manufacturing team, applicants can expect to grow their cooperation skills, self-accountability, and understanding of the challenges presented by the space industry.

Requirements:
• Experienced working in a lab with general lab tools and equipment such as microscopes, torque drivers, soldering stations, epoxies, personal protective equipment protocols, and general lab safety protocols
• Interested in science, technology, engineering, and aerospace (no formal degree required, but background knowledge appreciated)
