Tax Director – Income Tax Accounting and Reporting
Our client is currently seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Tax Director to join our finance team. As the Tax Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of income tax accounting and reporting. This critical role requires a deep understanding of tax regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to lead a team in meeting reporting deadlines and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
Responsibilities:
- Income Tax Accounting: Lead the preparation and review of income tax provisions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable tax laws. Ensure accurate and timely recording of tax-related transactions, including deferred taxes, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
- Tax Reporting: Prepare and review income tax returns and related tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. Coordinate with external tax advisors and tax authorities to resolve any inquiries or audits.
- Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the organization’s tax position. Identify opportunities for tax savings, credits, and incentives. Provide guidance and support to finance and business teams on tax-related matters.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on the organization. Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Identify and mitigate potential tax risks and exposures.
- Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Analyze tax implications of business transactions, acquisitions, and divestitures. Provide accurate and timely tax forecasts and projections. Evaluate the financial impact of tax planning strategies.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Internal and External Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and external auditors, to gather information and ensure accurate and timely tax reporting. Build relationships with external tax advisors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve tax accounting and reporting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Implement technology solutions and automation to streamline tax processes and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA qualification required. Advanced degree in Taxation or Tax Law preferred.
- Extensive experience in income tax accounting and reporting, preferably in a public accounting firm or multinational corporation.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience with tax compliance, including preparation and review of income tax returns and related filings.
- Experience with tax software and financial systems.
- Knowledge of international tax principles and transfer pricing concepts is a plus.
