The Manager – SEC Reporting and Research, updates, maintains, and enhances Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-related content on Accounting Research Manager (ARM.) The Manager – SEC Reporting and Research is primarily responsible for preparing and (or) reviewing content updates and enhancements to ARM’s SEC-related content. The Manager – SEC Reporting and Research interacts regularly with the production team, the editor assigned to the ARM team, marketing/sales, and technology support. The nature of this position is less demanding than, and provides for a more flexible work schedule than, a typical public accounting or corporate accountant position. In addition, the nature of this position provides an individual with the opportunity to hone his or her technical accounting skills, particularly those related to SEC rules and regulations, and gain valuable experience in the publishing industry, which could result in advancement opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Keep current on the various rules, regulations, and other releases and guidance issued by the SEC and its staff.
Update ARM’s SEC content based on actions (rules, regulations, proceedings, speeches, etc.) of the SEC and its staff and provide appropriate interpretations of such after consultation with the Managing Director, Accounting Content.
Keep current on and monitor standard-setter activities (and their processes) beyond those of the SEC. This includes activities of the FASB, EITF, PCAOB and the AICPA.
Acquire an in-depth understanding of and serve as the expert on the structure and functionality of the SEC content on ARM and how that content relates to or interacts with other ARM content.
Work closely with external reviewers or contributors of content through discussion of relevant SEC reporting developments.
Assist in preparation of weekly customer newsletter, which highlights recent SEC, accounting, and auditing developments.
Work cooperatively with the production team for purposes of processing content changes on ARM.
Attend and report on the AICPA National Conference on Current SEC and PCAOB Developments (typically held in December of each year).
Understand the customer and market and apply this understanding to enhance product/writing by identifying areas where new content is needed and participating in the development of that content.
Interact with marketing/sales team regarding content and functionality of ARM.
Respond to content-related inquiries from customers.

Education and/or Experience:

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         Certified Public Accountant (active license required)

·         Minimum of four years experience in the accounting profession with an emphasis in SEC reporting, preferably including four years experience with a CPA firm or in a senior financial reporting role of a large SEC reporting entity

·         The following types of experience would be very beneficial: (a) professional fellow, or part of the technical accounting staff, at the SEC, FASB, or AICPA, or (b) assignment (rotation or longer-term) in National Office of mid- to large-size public accounting firm

Strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and the SEC’s rules and regulations

Excellent communication (particularly writing) skills, including ability to write in “plain English”
