Staff Accountant in Detroit

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Detroit to join our team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, be a self-starter, and have a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities: • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis • Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and other reporting requirements • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance • 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a corporate environment • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) • Excellent organizational and analytical skills • Strong attention to detail • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
